I read an article today about two teachers who formed a non-profit called "The Lean Lab." (Faith and Leadership, Wednesday 1/13/16) The Lean Lab is a place for learning how to think and teach creatively. It was originally intended to help teachers in Kansas City reach the students. In two short years it has grown into a community that has influenced over 2500 kids. Not only is the Lean Lab making a difference in KC, they are also engaged in helping the business world be more creative too.
Tonight I met with one of many congregations who is in decline. Actually, truth be told, they are dying. They are still angry because 15-20 years ago the church split over worship wars - that was one of three such splits. Like other congregations, many of the members would rather die than change - but don't lock the doors until they die!
Creativity is life! "In the beginning GOD..." God created and it was very good! We are created in the image of God. But what happens to our creatie desire? Do we squish it out of our kids? Ground it out of our teenagers? Legislate it out of our pastors? Demean it out of our congregations? I wish I could say "NO!"
I looked for my CE for 2016. I think I'm going to IDEO. Reply if you would like to go along.
