Where's Judy?!

Considering we traveled what felt like all day, it was a great day! I’m not sure when the last time I’ve been ready for a good night’s sleep at 4:30 in the afternoon, but today, I was ready!

The flight was relatively brief. It was shortened by all the mission workers that were on our plane. In addition, the woman sitting to my right was a former agricultural teacher, now administrator and planner for the state of Oklahoma. We had an exquisite conversation – not a moment silent from Houston to Managua.

Arriving in Nicaragua was far different than I imagined. We flew over smoldering volcanoes and the teal blue waters of the Caribbean. How evident is God’s Handiwork! The woman to my right pointed out rice paddies, tobacco fields, and together we talked about the economy and ecology of this beautiful land.

No guns were evident at the airport. WHEW. Unlike El Salvador we did not notice them on the street corners either. Interesting. But what we did notice – Judy Z was missing! “Where is she?!” we asked each other. Nobody knew. Looks like we are going to learn how to be family together. Watching. Tending. Chasing after Judy Z! She was already on “the other side” of the impenetrable glass doors. Ah!

Who have you noticed missing lately?

Have you called them to let them know they are missed? I know minutes to make those touch-points are rare. And I also know we must grab them when we can. They are SO important to life together in community.

Would you make a phone call – now – please? Someone desperately needs to know they are missed. Judy Z will be very pleased you noticed she wasn't there.
